Full West Coast Experience: Little Port, Cox’s Cove, Hughes’ Brook and Gros Morne

This one is epic.

You will earn the full West Coast NL Experience with incredible riding on a mix of gravel and road capped off with delicious food and memories to last a lifetime. This is a multi-day tour and only offered on specific dates. The packed itinerary is a rough outline of your adventures, subject to change based on weather, or what life throws at us. No matter what, though, we promise an extraordinary time as you roll through Newfoundland and Labrador’s amazing terrain.

Day 1: Riding Logger School Road to Lark Harbour, which will be a mix of road and gravel riding. You’ll overnight at our cottage in Little Port, just a stone’s throw from the local fishing wharf. After you’ve freshened up from your ride, feel free to wander for a hike or chat with locals while we prepare your meal using fresh, locally sourced ingredients — and maybe some fish from your new friends. Enjoy a sunset from the deck, then rest up for a large day. We have chef for the evening to share this special location and kick off the trip.

Day 2: Lark Harbour to Cox’s Cove, approximately 110km. This will be one of the biggest days of the tour, riding-wise. After a light breakfast you’ll start on the road for 55km, then take a gravel route into the North Shore community of Cox’s Cove. After some rest, the options are open — explore on your own, or we can arrange for a boat transfer to an isolated beach with fishing along the way. Either way, afterwards we’ll tuck in with dinner at the lodge.

Day 3: Weather-dependent, we’ll send you on an early morning boat transfer from Cox’s Cove to Goose Arm. If the weather doesn’t allow, we’ll ride to the connection then turn north through the North Arm hills from into the heart of Gros Morne National Park. You’ll spin through backcountry which is rarely seen outside of winter, except maybe by local ATV riders. Eventually you’ll roll into picturesque Woody Point — home of the Writer’s at Woody Point festival, a celebration of Canadian Literature. While this event takes place in August, Woody Point is a hub for artists, musicians and writers throughout the summer. Chances are you’ll find some live music after dinner.

Day 4: Open-ended. You can ride to Trout River through the rusty Tablelands, which would be fun for fans of geology and earth’s history. You can also head to the abandoned fishing village of Chimney Cove (Which may be subject to good conditions). A third option is to take the ferry across beautiful Bonne Bay to Norris Point in the morning and ride North along a mix of gravel and road, finally ending up at Western Brook Pond. You could also ride as far as Cow Head and finish your day on enjoying its gorgeous sunset, or you could spread this experience over two days…

(Optional) Day 5: This one depends on how relaxed you’d like to be on the trip. Day 4 could be the transfer to Cow Head, however we find the experience is more rich with time saved for lazy exploring, maybe some Kayaking or Stand Up Paddelboarding with our friends in the region. If you took day 4 for that, then the day will start with breakfast in Norris Point at The Old Store Café, then ride north with some mixed gravel and road toward Cow Head. Take in Western Brook Pond with the option of a boat tour (Must be booked ahead of time!). Finish the day back in Norris Point or head further up to coast to Cow Head, home of Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador.

Day 6: Early morning departure for your plane in Deer Lake, back to the ferry, or whatever other adventures await you!
