Hike the Humber Valley Trail
This local favorite is a rite of passage for any Corner Brook native, with its challenging terrain and rewarding vista at the end.
Half-Day and Full Day options are available. The Humber Valley Trail follows along the hilltops above the north side of the lower Humber River Valley. For the day hike we will make our start at Ballam Bridge and to end we will be descending into Humber Village travelling approximately 17km in total for the day hike (approximately 7hours). The half day hike (approximately 3hours) will start and end at Ballam Bridge. This round trip will take us to the top of the ‘Old Man in the Mountain’ and back, for a distance of approximately 5.5km.
The trail begins with a 2.5km (1.5mile), 300m (985ft) ascent to the top of the ‘Old Man in the Mountain,’ offering a breathtaking view overlooking Shellbird Island in the fast flow of the Humber River. The city of Corner Brook and the Humber Arm are laid out below and to the northwest. Following the ridge the trail offers panoramic views of Western Newfoundland, from the far end of Deer Lake to the east, Blow-Me-Down Mountains to the west, North Arm Hills to the north, and Marble Mountain Ski Resort to the south.
Views from the Humber Valley Trail are particularly breathtaking in autumn when the brilliant colors of changing leaves intermingle with the coniferous greens. In summer hikers will discover the beautiful wild orchids, such as the pink lady slipper. In winter the snow covered hills will show the movements of local wildlife from as small as rabbits to as large as moose.
You’ll meet with your guide at cycle solutions fifteen minutes prior to tour to handle paperwork and last minute questions. 8.45am for a 9am start for day trip. Times will vary for our half day trip.
This is a back country hike and you will need to hydrate. Weather in Western Newfoundland is often unpredictable and may change hourly! Be prepared for rain, wind, fog, snow and sunshine! Keep in mind your personal hydration needs and bring along a small back pack with some handy day trip supplies!

Booking Terms
½ Day Tours Booking must be confirmed at least 48 hours prior to the tour. 100% of the tour cost is due at the time of booking.
Bookings made within 24 hours prior to a tour can be accommodated based on the availability of a guide, but a generous gratuity is encouraged.
If the preferred date is taken we will work with the client to find an ideal time for their tour.

Cancellation Policy
Weather in Newfoundland and Labrador varies and can be unpredictable. The client should be prepared to ride, hike and cave in a number of conditions and we will work with the client to ensure they have the right gear. It is unlikely Cycle Solutions will cancel a tour due to weather but in the event of an extreme case, we reserve the right to offer no refund and will make every effort to reschedule to a different day or time with the same level of awesome experience.
Full Day and ½ Day Tours Cancellations made at least 1 week prior to the tour date will be refunded in full to the client.
For cancellations made less than 1 week prior to the tour date, Cycle Solutions will retain 50% of the total tour cost. The remaining 50% of the total tour cost will be refunded to the client.
Multi-Day Tours Cancellations made at least 3 weeks prior to the tour date will be refunded in full to the client.
For cancellations made less than 3 weeks but more than 72 hours, prior to the tour date, Cycle Solutions will retain 50% of the total tour cost. The remaining 50% of the total tour cost will be refunded to the client.
For cancellations made less than 72 hours before the tour date, Cycle Solutions will retain 75% of the total tour cost.
Rentals Cancellations made at least 1 week prior to the rental date will be refunded in full to the client.
For cancellations made less than 1 week but more than 24 hours prior to the tour date, Cycle Solutions will retain 30% of the total rental cost. The remaining 70% of the total rental cost will be refunded to the client.
For cancellations made less than 24 hours before the rental date, Cycle Solutions will retain 50% of the total rental cost.
